During this team motivation exercise the team will form duos. Each person will buy two presents for his partner: One appreciation gift and one motivational gift.

The appreciation gift is to reward his partner for a characteristic he appreciates and the motivational gift is to encourage his partner to change this characterstic. Each person tells his partner what is the reason he bought these gifts. This way people can learn from each other in a playful manner.

During the Team Motivation exercise you can apply variations to the exercise:

  1. If people don’t have a little bit of money to spend you can ask the organisation you are working for to spend a few dollars per person for this project.
  2. In above video the presents were given in front of the rest of the group. When the group prefers to give it in private you can let them give each other the presents in private and not in front of the rest of the group.
  3. Next to buying a gift to encourage behavior or change behavior you can also let them buy gifts with other purposes. For example: buy your partner a gift which symbolizes a good thing he did.

Do you know a good Team Motivation variation? Type it below this video as a comment.
