Cooperative Activities – The Stick
This is one of our cooperative activities in which the team forms duos. Each pair gets a stick. Each person puts a pressure with one hand on one side of the stick. The goal is not to drop the stick. Tell them to move back and forth slowly on the same line with the stick between their hand palms. If they get a hang of it tell them not to use their hand palms, but their forefinger. If this goes well tell them now to move towards the whole room. Now tell them all to move a bit faster. If everyone can do this tell them to change couples and do the exercise again.
During the cooperative activities exercise you can apply variations:
- They can also move the stick from high to low by moving their arms from high to low. You can turn this exercise into a game. The less a couple has dropped the stick the better. If a couple drops a stick they get a point. The couple with the least points wins.
- Next to using a stick you can also use other objects. Make sure it’s not breakable.
- You can also use two stick per couple. The now use both hands to hold the two sticks up in the air.
Do you know a good variation on the cooperative activities exercise?
